April 2nd, 2020 Daily Devotional Today’s scripture reading from our Lenten devotional is Matthew 5:42: "Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you." We've all heard so many stories this week of friends, neighbors, and strangers "borrowing" from one another. It's a reminder that we all encounter times in our lives when we need to ask for help. And so I'm mindful today of all the times in the past when I've judged or refused someone who has "begged" for some help. God have mercy. Please join me in the prayer from our devotional booklet: "Dear Lord, when you want me to help a beloved, help me to completely trust you, for you will guide and protect and provide all I need to be a friend to the stranger. Amen.
