November 4th, 2020 Daily Devotional

What a day to arrive at our final Psalm. We began our journey through the Psalms on May 11th and our daily devotional journey on March 17th. Over these (nearly) eight months we have shared gratitude, heartbreak, joy, hope, dreams, and our fears. We, the church, must continue to do this, no matter what, friends. We must share, confess, repair, and keep on moving towards love and hope.

On this night, please take a moment to read Psalm 150 and then let us receive these words of blessing from The Rev. Shawna Bowman.

1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! 2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! 3 Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! 4 Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! 5 Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! 6 Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Knowing we won’t know and sitting in the not knowing are not the same. We are in this together, for the short term and the long haul. We see each other and we know that the only path to wholeness is through the rough terrain of truth telling and repair work that will be required no matter the outcome of this election. We will feed each other and care for one another, meeting despair with tender compassion and anxiety with deep peace. We will reach for the visions and dreamcasts of our ancestors and conspire for a kind of peace and liberation that will set us loose in ways our opponents can’t even imagine. Good night community, rest now, so you are restored for the resistance. Breathe deep so you are grounded in love. Take courage and remember, you are not alone. Amen
