I set this Psalm to pop up in the night. While many of us sleep, who are those who are keeping watch over us? What gifts can the night bring to us?

My dad worked many night shifts throughout his career and I often think about the different perspective those nights brought to him.

Whether it be by day or by night, let us always praise the Lord.

Let us pray this prayer of St Augustine together...

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give Your angels and saints charge over those who sleep. Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Christ. Rest Your weary ones. Bless Your dying ones. Soothe Your suffering ones. Pity Your afflicted ones. Shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your love's sake. Amen.

Psalm 134

Praise in the Night

Come, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who stand by night in the house of the Lord! Lift up your hands to the holy place, and bless the Lord. May the Lord, maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion.
